Effective November 7, 2026
In short: This tool does not collect your name, email address, street address or the messages you send. Your name stays in your own browser. We only count how many emails, calls and letters our community sends, without knowing who sent them. We do not sell anything, show ads or use tracking cookies.
Who we are
This tool is run by Together for Elwood, parents and neighbors for Elwood Community Schools. It helps Elwood residents write, call and mail their Indiana state legislators about public school funding. This policy covers the tool at legislators.togetherforelwood.com.
What you type
- Your name is used only to sign your email, call script and letters. It is never sent to us. Your browser remembers it on your device so it is filled in next time. You can remove it by clearing this site's data in your browser.
- Your email, call script and letters are written on your device. We never receive their text.
- Any edits you make to your message are checked on your device and are not sent to us.
Sending your email, calls and letters
You send everything yourself. When you use the Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo buttons, your email service opens with your message filled in, and that service's own privacy policy applies. The "your email app" button opens the mail program on your device. Calls are made from your own phone, and letters are printed and mailed by you. We never see who you are, what you sent or whether you sent it.
What we count
To show our community's progress, the tool counts actions. Each count includes only:
- the type of action (email, call or printed letter) and the day it happened;
- which button was used, for example "Gmail" or "Print all letters";
- a general source, such as "Facebook" or "typed the link directly," based on the website that sent you here;
- a random code made for that one action so it is never counted twice. These codes are deleted after 30 days.
To stop anyone from inflating the numbers, the tool limits how many actions one network can count in an hour. It does this with a scrambled, one-way version of your internet address that cannot be turned back into the address. It is deleted within an hour.
Totals and daily counts are stored with Upstash, our database provider, and are viewable only by campaign organizers. They never include names, contact details or message content.
Visitor statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they view, what kind of device they use, their general region and which website sent them. It does not use cookies and does not identify you or follow you to other websites. Vercel's privacy policy applies to this information.
Our website host and other services
- Vercel hosts this website. Like any web host, it briefly processes standard technical information, such as your internet address and browser type, to deliver the page and keep it secure.
- Google Fonts provides the page's lettering. Your browser downloads the fonts from Google, which receives your internet address when it does.
- Sharing buttons for Facebook, X and text messages open those services. Their own privacy policies apply once you are there.
- Links to the legislators' official pages and to news and government sources take you to those websites, which have their own policies.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information. We do not collect any to begin with.
- We do not show ads or use advertising or tracking cookies.
- We do not contact you. We have no way to, because we never receive your contact details.
Children
This tool is meant for adults in the Elwood community. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the tool handles information, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
